Why is Ron Paul Getting So Much Money From Big Banks?

Congressman and former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul likes to depict himself as a political outsider, someone who tells it straight because he doesn't owe anybody any favors. Why is it, then, that of all the hundreds of members of the U.S. House of Representatives, Ron Paul ranks among the highest in terms of campaign donations from large banks? Ron Paul is third highest out over over 400 members of the House, taking in huge amounts of money funneled to him by banks through their employees. Think about it, and it makes sense. Ron Paul, as a fair-weather libertarian, is against big government... except when he writes big earmarks for companies that support his little political empire. That's perfect for banks, because the only time Ron Paul betrays free market libertarian principles is on behalf of politically-connected insiders. Banks don't have to worry about that. Ron Paul wants to let it all hang out in the financial sector, undoing all kinds of protections for investors, believing that the genius of the market will sort out the casualties in the end. How convenient such a world would be for the big banks that send campaign funds to Ron Paul. No one to stop their insider trading deals any more, or stop any other of the very profitable, yet unethical, deals. The Democrats in Ron Paul's district aren't even bothering to run a candidate against the man whose "Revolution" led down a dark alley filled with millions of dollars for Ron Paul to play around with. That's very slick for Ron Paul, but not so slick for the people of the 14th congressional district.
