Fred Thompson: Let's Let the Fairies Fund the Government

In the Republican presidential debate of November 28 2007, Fred Thompson declared that in his time as a Senator, "I never met a tax I liked." Well, all the things our government does are funded by taxes. Some of them a person may not like, but some are undeniably essential. When Fred Thompson declares his opposition to all taxes, he declares his opposition to all government programs. Fred Thompson declares his opposition to the Centers for Disease Control. Fred Thompson declares his opposition to the Consumer Product Safety Commission. Fred Thompson declares his opposition to the continued existence of the Congress, the Supreme Court and the Presidency itself. You can't have any of these things without taxes, and Fred Thompson declared, "I never met a tax I liked." The alternative is that Fred Thompson is in favor of letting the fairies fund the government. (Source: CNN YouTube Debate of Republican Presidential Candidates, November 28 2007)
