France Warned of Coming Attack. Bush Did Nothing.While the mainstream news media were busy hyperventilating over an isolated, idiosyncratic incident of violence this week, another news story about a more systematic problem got less attention. It turns out that, in January 2001, France warned the CIA that Osama Bin Laden’s organization planned to hijack American airplanes in an attack against the United States. No extra spying powers were necessary to prevent the attacks of September 11, 2001. George W.
