Fossil Fools Day HaikuBurning corpses our ancestors laid underground, for us, fossil fools. It's been a crazy day of environmentalist action around the world, with strong protests against the economic infrastructure that delivers the dirty fossil fuels that are burning into accelerating climate change. In Boston, Massachusetts, activists formed a blockade of the Bank of America to protest the bank's funding of coal pollution. In New York City, protesters blocked the entrance to a Citibank headquarters to demonstrate resistance against Citibank's investment in coal-fired power plants. The activists chained themselves to the building and could not be removed until the chains were cut. At dawn outside of Charlotte, North Carolina, protesters chained themselves to bulldozers at the construction site for a new polluting coal-fired plant. That's just a small sampling of the amazing show of resistance going on today, not just in the USA, but all over planet Earth! |
